I’m putting together a cloud-based portal that lets several independent companies keep their IT inventories in one place without seeing each other’s data. The first release is all about rock-solid inventory tracking. I need every piece of hardware, software and every license stored in an easy-to-navigate interface, searchable and filterable by the usual fields (location, cost centre, expiry date, etc.). Because this is a multi-tenant environment, each company’s data has to stay completely isolated, yet I still want centralised administration. Access will be granted strictly by role, so granular permission management is essential—think asset managers, auditors and read-only observers rather than “everyone in the company.” Core scope • Design and build the database schema and cloud architecture for multi-company separation. • Develop the web portal (responsive UI) with CRUD screens for hardware, software and licence records. • Implement role-based access control and an admin panel for creating companies, users and roles. • Import/export to CSV or XLSX for bulk updates. • Basic dashboard widgets (counts, upcoming renewals) so users instantly see what matters when they log in. Acceptance criteria 1. A new company can be created in under two minutes and cannot view or query any other tenant’s data. 2. Hardware, software and licence entries can be added, edited, searched and deleted by users with the correct role. 3. Role permissions can be updated from the admin panel without code changes. 4. Portal loads within three seconds for typical list views with 10,000+ assets. I’m tech-agnostic on language and framework—propose what you’re fastest and most comfortable with, but keep it modern and cloud-friendly (AWS, Azure or GCP).
