Ignition Edge PLC Configuration

I have a small lab bench running a Siemens PLC and an Ignition Edge Gateway that still sits on the default settings. I need a programmer who already knows their way around Ignition Edge to turn this blank slate into a working demo environment. Your first task is to configure the gateway itself—licence activation, tag provider, security zones and the usual Edge limitations—so that the PLC’s tags are browsed and exposed cleanly. From there we’ll move straight into scripting and logic: I want lightweight Python scripts inside Ignition to handle calculated tags and to trigger events when certain states occur. Two key features must be delivered: • Robust data-logging of selected PLC tags to the built-in store-and-forward buffer so I can pull historical records later. • An alarming pipeline that raises notifications (email or on-screen is fine) whenever any high-priority condition from the PLC fires. The hardware is a Siemens PLC, so keep that in mind when you set up the device connection and any protocol specifics (I’m using the standard S7 driver). If you feel the PLC–gateway comms layer could be improved further, I’m open to recommendations, but the core scope above is mandatory. Please outline briefly how you would structure the tags, what ignition version you prefer working with, and any previous Siemens + Ignition Edge projects you can point to. Remote access to the lab VM will be provided as soon as we agree on milestones; I’m happy to test iteratively and give quick feedback so you can focus on configuration instead of waiting for sign-off.
