In 2018, we were on a low carb diet, trying to figure out how to enjoy a drink with friends that fit our needs. We tried hard seltzers and discovered they were bland, over-carbonated, and tasteless. Rather than complain, Adam started experimenting in their kitchen with vodka, sparkling water, natural flavors, and extracts. We don’t have a glamorous Silicon Valley startup story, no fancy funding or product-market validation from thousands of users. It was trial and error. Neither of us had prior beverage experience, Adam was a Plant Manager in the food industry and Amanda had a CFO in the automotive industry. We consciously chose a slow, tactical growth approach for the longevity of the brand. Through many challenges, we kept pushing, refining flavors, and hustling to get into bars, retailers, and own the cooler space. As we grew the business, we also grew our family. It has been a journey of learning to balance marriage, family life, and business growth without sacrificing one for the other. Throughout the years we balanced corporate careers, extensive required travel, our own personal endeavors, and many nights of lost sleep. All those seasons were necessary to get us to where we are today. Carbliss has become one of the fastest-growing private companies in the U.S., with exponential growth figures and hundreds of cases of Carbliss being produced and sold every day. We were able to navigate our business into our love story by not allowing cash-flow stress to become emotional distance, disagreements to become personal, and burnout to create strain. We had to provide space for one another to grow at different speeds, carry weight at different loads, and understand power dynamics over time. We also know that without our personality differences, we would not have been able to grow as successfully as we did. When those honest stories are shared with other couples on the same journey, it spreads higher revenue, more exits, bigger visions, and overall alignment. That is why we launched Building Blissfully. 3. BUILDING BLISSFULLY Scaling a business tests your abilities. Scaling a business with your spouse tests your relationship. Building Blissfully explores how entrepreneurial couples balance love, business, ambition, and family. Each couple’s story will show how shared vision can drive both success and connection both in and out of the home. These honest conversations will explore the wins, the tension, the sacrifices, the humor, the balance, and the growth that rarely gets shared publicly. From time to time, we’ll also include perspectives from the children because building a business doesn’t happen in isolation, and the next generation experiences the journey too.
