The Role We urgently need a skilled Freelance LMS Developer to provide ad hoc support, starting as soon as possible, focusing on troubleshooting issues with plugins for our eFront eLearning platform and assisting with upgrading our Moodle platform. You’ll leverage expertise in React, PHP, JavaScript, MySQL, API/webhook integrations, and WordPress authentication, with the potential to rebuild plugins for non-WordPress environments. This flexible role requires client-facing communication and offers ongoing support opportunities to strengthen our eLearning platforms during a key growth phase. What You’ll Do Rebuild off platform reporting for eFront: Working with APIs and Webhooks to build/improve customer facing training matrices (currently react on WordPress) Bulk PDF generation and download functionality (currently PHP on WordPress) Troubleshoot and resolve issues with existing plugins for our eFront eLearning platform, ensuring seamless functionality and performance leveraging PHP, Javascript. Implement and troubleshoot API and webhook integrations to connect LMS platforms with third-party tools and client systems. Optimise WordPress authentication systems (e.g., custom login flows, SSO integration) to enhance security and user access for LMS integration. Leveraging MySQL databases for WordPress and LMS platforms to ensure efficient data handling and performance. Maintaining documentation of plugin fixes, upgrade processes, and recommendations to support ongoing maintenance. Assist with upgrading our Moodle platform, including configuration, testing, and optimisation to support the latest features and performance requirements. Collaborate with internal teams (e.g., course development, customer support) on ad hoc projects to align technical solutions with business needs. Act as a technical point of contact for clients during plugin troubleshooting or upgrades, gathering requirements, providing updates, and ensuring satisfaction. (Desirable) Use Retool to build internal dashboards or automation tools to streamline operations. What You Bring 5+ years of full-stack development experience, with expertise in React, PHP, JavaScript, and MySQL. Proven experience troubleshooting WordPress plugins using React, PHP, and JavaScript, with a focus on LMS integration. Ability to rebuild plugins for non-WordPress environments, ensuring platform-agnostic functionality. Strong knowledge of WordPress authentication systems, including custom login solutions and SSO implementation. Expertise in API and webhook integrations for seamless connectivity with external systems. Hands-on experience with eLearning platforms, ideally eFront (essential) and Moodle, with a focus on plugin troubleshooting and platform upgrades. Excellent communication skills, with a track record of client-facing interactions. Ability to work independently under tight deadlines, delivering high-quality solutions on an ad Hoc basis. Availability to start as soon as possible, with flexible hours (e.g., 10–30 hours per week initially, scaling as needed). Portfolio or examples of previous LMS projects, particularly plugin troubleshooting or platform upgrades for eFront or Moodle. UK-based, with ability to work 3 days per week in our London (Chiswick) office when required. (Desirable) Familiarity with Retool or similar low-code platforms.
