Simple Barter Exchange Website

I’m building a free-to-join, community-driven platform where neighbours can swap goods without money changing hands. The core purpose is to make item-for-item exchanges effortless, so every design and feature decision should support that single goal. Here’s the heart of what I need developed: a clean, minimalist site where visitors can sign up in seconds, create a public profile, and start trading. Each profile must carry a visible rating that updates automatically after every completed exchange, helping users decide who to trust. Members should also be able to open a private chat thread directly from another user’s listing so negotiations stay on-site and secure. A lightweight, uncluttered interface is essential. Think generous white space, intuitive icons, and a colour palette that feels calm rather than salesy. Speed matters too—pages and messaging should load instantly on mobile as well as desktop. Deliverables I’ll review for acceptance • Fully responsive website with sign-up, login, and password-reset flows • Profile pages showing user photo, bio, and rolling five-star rating system • Item posting form that captures title, description, photos, preferred swap, and location • Real-time or near-real-time direct messaging integrated into each listing and profile • Admin dashboard where I can moderate profiles, listings, and dispute reports • Basic SEO setup and a concise hand-off document covering hosting, tech stack, and future scalability I’m flexible on the underlying technology—Laravel, Django, Node, or a modern no-code stack are all options—as long as the final product is fast, secure, and easy for me to maintain. If you’ve built social or marketplace features before and enjoy stripping interfaces down to their essentials, I’d love to see your approach and timeline.
