I’m rebuilding my site so each city we cover has its own WordPress page dedicated to local business listings. What I need first is a clean, responsive template that can be duplicated for dozens—eventually hundreds—of cities, with a rock-solid keyword-based search bar right at the top. Here’s the flow I have in mind: • Each listing is a custom post containing the business name, short description, address, phone, and an external URL field. • Visitors type a word or phrase (e.g. “plumber” or “vegan café”) and the results filter instantly within that city page only—no category dropdowns or geolocation filters at this stage. • The layout must stay lightweight and fast; I’m fine using native WordPress search, a custom WP_Query, or a well-supported plugin such as Relevanssi or SearchWP if that shortens development time, but please keep it maintainable and documented. Deliverables 1. Reusable page template set up in the current theme (or a simple child theme if best practice dictates). 2. Custom post type and fields registered and visible in the WP admin. 3. Keyword search integrated and tested on at least one sample city page. 4. Brief how-to guide so my team can add new cities and listings without touching code. I’ve kept the initial scope lean—just the listings and keyword search—so we can launch quickly; later phases may add user reviews, category filters, or maps, so clean code is important.
