I am looking to work with a metal / plastic fabricator to modify / develop a prototype stand based on an existing speaker stand design. The intended use is for a fitness product, so the stand must be very sturdy, stable, and durable, as it will be repeatedly hit during workouts. It also need to be erected, dismantled and transported easily. Starting Point: I have sourced an existing speaker stand with weighted base and rectangle top plate that I think will work with some modifications. Attached is an image of what I have and another image of what I want to modify it to be / look like. I am initially looking to produce 3 working prototypes to test so that I can produce the relevant drawings and specification to take to a manufacturer to produce larger quantities. Key Requirements: Height: The current stand is too tall so it needs shortening Minimum height: 80cm (to top plate) Maximum height: 150cm (to top plate) Adjustable between these heights Base: Weighted, flat base (approx. 4kg) Designed to provide strong stability and minimise movement/tipping during impact Thicker base to look more like the attached visual so it looks more in keeping with a fitness product Structure & Assembly: The stand should be quick and easy to assemble and disassemble - it currently needs bolting together so it needs adapting: Preferably a slot-in, push-fit, or quick-lock system rather than threaded/screw connections Or a folding design Must be suitable for frequent setup, pack-down and transport. Top Plate: Circular metal plate instead of rectangle (approx. 35cm diameter) Plate should mount securely to the stand by slotting into place or ability to fold down rather than requiring screws to secure it in place even time it is erected Should tilt (which the current off shelf product does) Designed to support a thick foam cushion (5cm deep)on top (foam will need to be replaceable as it will only last a certain amount of time) No metal lip around the edge of the circular foam cushion as it will get hit Performance Requirements: Must withstand repeated hard hits without wobbling, loosening, or tipping Should feel solid and stable during use Ideally incorporate anti-slip or vibration-dampening considerations
