GIS Technician – QGIS/ArcMap (Land Survey / Development Plan, Forestry & Carbon Data Production) Project Overview I am a Registered Professional Forester (RPF) looking for a reliable GIS Technician to assist with ongoing data production for forestry and carbon sequestration projects. I will provide the methodology, analysis parameters, and source data; I need a technical expert to execute the digitization, georeferencing, and file management. Scope of Work Georeferencing: Accurately georeferencing PDF maps, historical survey plans, and aerial imagery. Digitizing: Creating clean, topological vector data (polygons/lines) from georeferenced sources (e.g., woodlot boundaries, stand types, watercourses). Attribute Management: Populating attribute tables according to specific forestry/carbon schemas I provide. Platform Interoperability: Producing high-quality outputs in GeoPackage (.gpkg) and Shapefile (.shp) formats that are fully compatible across QGIS, ArcMap, and Google Earth. Data Hygiene: Ensuring all layers are in the correct Coordinate Reference System (typically NAD83 / UTM zone 20N) and free of geometry errors. Technical Requirements Proficiency in QGIS (preferred) or ArcMap/ArcGIS Pro. Proven experience in georeferencing complex PDF documents with high spatial accuracy. Ability to work with various spatial data formats (KML, GeoJSON, TIFF, GPKG). Strong attention to detail—topology matters (no overlaps, no gaps).
