I manage several WordPress projects and I’m looking for an experienced developer who can stay with me for the long haul. Your core work will revolve around two ongoing needs: tailoring my preferred theme to match fresh design layouts and keeping each site running smoothly with regular maintenance and updates. Here’s what the day-to-day looks like: • Theme customization – I already have a licensed theme in place on each site. You’ll create a clean child theme, extend it with PHP where needed, and translate new UI/UX directions into pixel-perfect templates. When design changes arise, you should feel comfortable slicing assets, writing modern CSS/SCSS, and tweaking PHP theme files without breaking parent-theme update paths. • Site maintenance – Expect routine plugin and core updates, uptime and performance checks, security hardening, database cleanup, and quick troubleshooting when something suddenly goes off the rails. I value proactive suggestions that improve load speed or SEO. Because many of my mock-ups arrive in English, strong written and spoken English is essential for smooth collaboration. Conversational Spanish is a plus; several stakeholders prefer it and it helps when reviewing localized content. Tools and workflows I already use (and that you should be happy with): Git (Bitbucket), staging sites on WP Engine, WP-CLI, Advanced Custom Fields, and the occasional custom plugin when functions.php is no longer enough. Initial acceptance criteria – A child theme built on my preferred theme, activating the first round of custom page templates I supply. – PageSpeed Insights scores of 90+ on both mobile and desktop for the main landing page. – A short maintenance report after the first month outlining updates applied, issues found, and recommendations. If you have a proven track record with WordPress and PHP and enjoy iterative, design-focused work, let’s start with the first customization task and grow from there.
